10 EXPEDITION VEHICLES That Will Get You From Point A to B With Confidence

– [Glen] Expedition vehicles are made for going out and exploring the wilderness and the world around us. From four to eight wheels, these vehicles will get
you where you want to go. This is Glen and today we are bringing you ten exceptional expedition
vehicles you will want to try. – [Announcer] Number 10 – [Glen] The MAN TGM
13.290 is a four-by-four family expedition truck that will fit a crew of four or more, and comes with cruise control, climate control,
acclimatized driver’s seat, four registered seats in the cab, and has a lockable crawl-through
to the living area. This expedition truck driven in tropical, or cold regions, has 780
watts of solar power, central diesel heating, floor heating, frost-free water tanks,
and air conditioning for tropical or for cold regions. Driving on weak or
non-existent infrastructure is not a problem with this four-by-four. It has a MAN TipMatic automatic gear box, MAN BreakMatic downhill control, and a 330 power Euro-5 engine. The insulated living area
has a double-fixed bed, a bunk bed, and a seating corner that will
turn into an extra two beds. Also included is a luxury
bathroom, with a toilet, sink, and ceramic floor. A kitchen-top, and my personal
favorite, a coffee machine. The MAN TGM has a length
of 28 feet or 8.5 meters, a height of 12 feet, or 3.7 meters, and a weight of about 24,000
pounds, or 11,400 kilograms. – [Announcer] Number 9 – [Glen] Beginning in 2010,
Bran Ferren of Applied Minds created the Kiravan, a
large-scale expedition system on a modified Mercedes Benz Unimog U500NA with a Mercedes Benz
six-cylinder, 260 horsepower high-efficiency turbo-diesel engine, providing 700 foot pounds of torque. Designed for extended off-road capability, as well as over highway travel, the 170 US gallon diesel
or bio-diesel fuel supply can provide a range of up to 2,000 miles, or 3,219 kilometers. The main sleeping loft is
on a composite balcony, above which, extends the
pop-up penthouse sleeping tent and three banquette seat, that can lower to provide a
luggage storage compartment, or another sleeping area. The entryway doubles as a shower and toilet room with a vanity sink. Onboard systems include
position, navigation, timing, computers and
networks, secure voice and data communications, intercoms
and video conferencing, and fire protection and security. The Kiravan tractor and
trailer have a combined length of 52 feet, or about 16 meters and a maximum vehicle
weight of 51,700 pounds, or 23.400 kilograms,
with an off road limit of 42,500 pounds, or 19,277 kilograms. – [Announcer] Number 8 – [Glen] The Unimog six-by-six
is an expedition truck based on a new U400 Unimog chassis, and made by UNICAT, and optimized for maximum
off-road performance. The design combines a spacious living unit with impressive off road features. It is fully weight balanced with equal weight over six wheels, and has a three point
torsion-free subframe. With room for four, the cab has two RECARO
Air-suspended Seats, with a third seat being possible, and a lockable crawl-through
to the living area. The Unimog comes with
an eight speed gear box, a six-cylinder, 325
horsepower Euro-5 Engine, a digital temperature monitor for the engine, axles, and gearbox, a six-wheel independent
tire inflation system, and a 660 watt solar panel grid. This vehicle also includes
a fully air conditioned driver’s cab and living unit, a luxury bathroom, and a separate shower. – [Announcer] Number 7 [Glen] The Avtoros Shaman
is an eight-by-eight off-road vehicle with an Iveco F1C 3.0 146 horsepower engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and gets up to 44 miles per
hour, or 71 kilometers per hour. The Avtoros has a diesel
fuel capacity of 69 gallons, or 260 liters, and 9.4 miles per gallon, or 25 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The Shaman can be equipped
with a screw propeller, has a chromatic boat-formed frame, armed with high performance water pumps, and has a naval speed of
up to 4.3 miles per hour, or 6.9 kilometers per hour. There are two models to
chose from on these vehicles. The Tourist, which could
easily take up to eight people, with each person having an
adjustable seat, and The Hunter, that has benches that transform into beds, for up to four people. This vehicle has a length
of 20 feet, 8 inches, or 6.3 meters, a width of 8 feet, 2 inches, or 2.5 meters, a height of 8 feet, 10 inches, or 2.7 meters, and can handle a payload
of 2,200 to 3,300 pounds, or 1,000 to 1,500 kilograms. While you’re waiting to

four-by-four chassis, has an Allison six-speed
automatic transmission, a 162 kilowatt, or 220 horsepower, engine, and a fuel capacity of 105
gallons, or 400 liters. The entrance door of
the body is constructed of fiberglass composite panels and frames, and has an electrically-operated
wheelchair lift, with a foldable platform that
gives you access to the cab, giving you access from
the body, to the cab, the RECARO driver’s seat
slides back from the front, and swivels, allowing you
to enter your position from a wheelchair, quickly. The living area includes bunkbeds, with the lower one having the ability to extend into a double bed,
while the top one is foldable. A combined shower and toilet, a 197 liter refrigerator with freezer, and a sliding kitchen
cabinet with locking drawers. This particular 48 has a
length of 22 feet, 4 inches, or 6.8 meters. A width of 7 feet, 9 inches, or 2.36 meters. A height of 11 feet, 1
inch, or 3.38 meters, and a weight of 16,512 pounds, or 7,490 kilograms. – [Announcer] Number 5 – [Glen] The Unicat Special VXL 16-HD comes on a Volvo four-by-four chassis, with a 338 kilowatt, 460
horsepower Euro-3 engine. A six-speed Volvo automatic transmission, and has a fuel capacity of
268 gallons, or 1,015 liters. The Unicat has a lifting
electric sleeping roof, and inside the cabin, has a double bed in the lifting roof area. A U-shaped seating unit, with a foldable table that
converts into double beds, and a computer desk and swiveling chair. Highlights of the VXL 16 include a combined shower, and toilet room, a kitchen with a vera core countertop, with an integrated sink,
refrigerator and freezer, a conventional and microwave oven, storage space in the seating benches, and three big wardrobes. The overall dimensions of this vehicle are 28 feet, 6 inches, or 8.7 meters long, 8 feet, 1 inch, or 2.48 meters wide, 12 feet, 10 inches, or 3.9 meters high, with a weight of 35,043 pounds, or 15,900 kilograms. – [Announcer] Number 4 – [Glen] The four-season, all
weather, EarthRoamer XV-LTS is a one-piece, composite camper. Built on a four-wheel
drive Ford F-550 chassis, with a 6.7 liter turbo diesel V8 engine. It’s easy to drive on, or off, the road and requires no special license. Every XV-LTS has air-ride suspension, providing the ability to raise and lower each wheel, or axle, independently. 41 inch aggressive tires
on beadlock wheels, King Off-Road shocks, and
heavy-duty anti-sway bars. Luxury interior provides
seating for two to six people, an over-cab bunk, modern appliances, including a stainless steel
refrigerator and freezer, granite countertop, touch faucet, and an induction cooktop, and microwave. The bathrooms are heated,
with a cassette toilet, a shower, sink, mirror,
storage for small bath items, and a 90-gallon freshwater supply, that will last for several
days up to two weeks. The EarthRoamer is quiet and efficient, with 1,320 watts of solar power, a large 12,000 watt-hour battery bank, and a 95-gallon diesel tank that will get you a range of 900 miles. Hand-crafted in Colorado,
these are built-to-order with multiple floor plans, and have a starting cost of $490,000. – [Announcer] Number 3 A three axle off-road motor home, the Globecruiser 7500, sits on a six-by-six chassis, has a spacious and
sophisticated interior design, and is perfect for two
adults, and two kids. The Globecruiser has a total
length of 32 feet, 5 inches, or 9.9 meters. A width of 8 feet, 2
inches, or 2.5 meters, a height of 12 feet, 7
inches, or 3.85 meters, and a weight of 39,460
pounds, or 17,900 kilograms. Offering a wide range of
comforts, the Globecruiser has an electric oven with
integrated microwave, a fridge and freezer
system, a washer and dryer, a table mounted on an
electronically lowering table frame, and a Bose Wave IV sound
system with SoundLink. This vehicle includes a 24
volt lithium-ion battery that has a total capacity
of 720 amp-hours, four solar panels that are 240 watts each, a 5,000 watt continuous inverter, and a hydraulic motor bike lift, with room for a spare wheel, one motorbike or force endsheets. – [Announcer] Number 2 – [Glen] Manufactured by
Global Expeditions’ patagonia, is a six-by-six Class-A motorhome, built on a Kensworth Chassis. Patagonia is 26 feet, or 7.9 meters long, 8 feet, or 2.4 meters wide, and 12 feet, 2 inches
to 12 feet, 4 inches, or 3.8 meters high. The inside is fully customizable, and comes with a queen size bed, a wet bath and cassette toilet, a refrigerator and freezer, sink and stove, bench
seating, a swing out TV, and you can even have a desk
area with an office chair. This motorhome gets 8 miles per gallon, and comes with a 200
gallon diesel fuel tank. For a total range of 1600
miles, the base price on this is $420,000, plus the cost
of any customizations. – [Announcer] Number 1 – [Glen] Currently making its
way through the Arab desert, one of the biggest all-wheel motorhomes in the world, so far, though it’s not as big as the Kiravan, the Desert Challenger has
remarkable technical details, and is desirable to drive. Originally constructed to carry missiles, this comes with a 600 horsepower engine on a MAN type KAT1 A
eight-by-eight chassis, a luxury, oriental style
living area has root veneer and leather furnishings
as the main elements. And hydraulic lateral extensions
could make the living area up to five meters wider. A separate kitchen is all stainless steel, and has a walk-in refrigerating chamber. The Challenger comes with a 660 gallon, or 2500 liter fuel tank. A 634 gallon, or 2400
liter, drinking water tank, 66 kilograms of stored
gas, and onboard batteries, with a storage capacity
