I was a Muni bus driver and drove the 76x marin headlands route. You are right, sometimes they make Conzelman Rd one way because cars would literally wait to get a parking spot to visit Battery Spencer. It get backed up so bad, it takes me 30 minutes to an hour, longest time was 2 hours. So I am glad they are doing this and should do it more often. Another great video Robert!!

Another great video Robert, its great following you every week I cant wait to see your next one! by the way what kind of bed cover do you have on your truck? thinking of getting one. thanks

Its foggy along the coast June thru August, plus the wind and humidity make it puffer jacket and scarf weather — brrrrrr. October is the best month for coastal views and sunshine. Whale migration is Sep/Oct and Mar/Apr, but they're way off shore, spouting in the distance. The coast is pristine due to the California Coastal Commission which strictly regulates development along the immediate coast. Thanks for this beautiful video!!

This is why I say California is probably the most beautiful state in the USA. There is no other state that has the diversity of scenery that this state has. Who has Yosimite, Lake Tahoe, San Fran, HWY101, Redwood Forest, Laguna and Newport Beach, Pacific Ocean, Bev Hills, etc….? NO ONE! The argument of who has the most breath taking coast between the Pacific and Atlantic can be seen in part by this video that the Pacific is the winner hands down.

  • Confusedus Say

You are now on the longest and slowest road in America. And the closer to shoreline the colder it gets.
I can imagine you as a late century explorer in a galleon ship stopping at every scenic bay on the same route.

Of all the times (on TV) I have seen the Golden Gate Bridge, that was real. The little towns along the way seem to date waaay back. How in the world would they have gotten all that lumber and talented carpenters to those remote locations back then?! Thank you Robert. Your talent lies in wanting to record just as we would. Hey, next time you are near some cows like you were at that casino, pull out your guitar and do your song for them. It's interesting and hilarious how they come all together to you to enjoy the show! Really! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ„

That was such a quick video. Time just flew by. Yes it is a wonderful drive up the coast. I have only made it to S.F. So this was so very nice to see.

#38 Yup! I was there, back in 1969, when gas in California was 39 cents a gallon. A similar coast is route 132 in Quebec, Canada along the Gaspe, Penn. Just a beautiful ride. Thanks for taking me along.

Wow…..OMG Robert just beautiful footage this week. Misty and I were going to fly the plane up to the PNW and island hop…………but now she's saying "dear…..instead of flying the plane can we just drive up like Robert and take the Airstream instead???" Looks like our summer trip will be an Airstream trip now. LOL! Great episode.

  • Slone's Wilderness Expeditions

Great episode! I did a roadtrip to California in 2018 (Golden Gate, Yosemite, Death Valley, & everything in between) but didn't make it north. Looking forward to the next episode in the Red Woods!

Another beautiful, yet foggy video and I still enjoyed it a lot.

At 17:30 mark youโ€™ll see a half burned down house. It seems a deputy crashed over there a caught that rental property on fire. The people of the area want it gone, but itโ€™s hard to for the owner to demolish it because of strict regulations. Itโ€™s been over 6 months since it was destroyed by the fire.

Hey Robert, I may have missed this, but do you make all the music playing in your videos? I find myself singing your theme song at all times of the day.

Good travelogue. The Pacific Ocean temp in August according to a site I was looking at ranges from a high of about 68 degrees in Southern California down to 53 degrees in Northern California. Way too cold for my taste. I'll stick to the Florida beaches.

  • Brian 1971 C10

Great video!! I did the Southern California tour last summer and plan on going back this year.I would really like to visit central Cali in next few years.

  • Adventure man goes hiking

The Lighthouse is the foggiest part of the West Coast… in the area you can also see the Cypress Tree Tunnel and do a small hike to Alamere Falls which is one of the two waterfalls to kiss the Pacific Ocean besides McWay Falls in Big Sur.

  • Sally Schramm-Block

Stunning scenery! I wanted to thank you for doing the map portions of your trips lately. It really helps as another visual aid. I've been to Oregon coast but neither California nor Washington coast so thanks for filling me in!

  • Janet Allen

My family lives in Monterey. My sister linda passed away due to cancer lived in Carmel her husband still is there same home. I would go visit and even moved there for short time. I just missed the NC mountains and moved back. Loved your video brought back memories.

Before pulling into somewhere, pull out your phone and check google maps satellite image to see if itโ€™s trailer friendly.

Your vids make me so happy…the school house from the Birds..good movie..that up close pic of the GGB was great ..thanks Robert๐Ÿ˜Š

  • Spud Bono

I've lived in northern California my entire life. Sometimes it's good to be reminded how lucky I am. I was also in national guard aviation and was able to see it by air. There used to be a small airfield at the base of the Golden gate we could land at! If you come back through that area someday, the hike out to tomales point in the pt Reyes area is bucket list worthy, and there is a campground in olema which will accommodate any size rig.

  • William Irizarry

It's amazing the discipline you have to do what you do by yourself ..
amongst all the other talents you possess. I admire you for that…Thank you. Dale lo!

This video was one of your best because of the scenery. Unbelievable how beautiful it is. Great job with editing too. As always, have fun and stay safe.
