Kranjska Gora och Škocjangrottornas – Gone Camping upplever slovenska Alperna högt och lågt

If I say Kranjska Gora, some of you will think of an alpine skier with the first name Ingemar and the last name Stenmark. It was on these slopes he had some of his classic runs. I won’t be skiing now, but I will go mountain biking. Welcome to Gone Camping and to Slovenia. A bit of everything – that’s how I would summarize Slovenia, which is no bigger than Dalarna. It doesn’t take long to criss-cross the country on the beautiful roads. Up north, we find alpine landscapes, reminding you of Norway or Switzerland. Further south, you have flat plains, vineyards, beaches and quaint coastal villages. I start off…

Från Haga Park till Böda Sand och massor däremellan – Gone Camping upplever Öland

This windmill is one of more than 300 all across Öland. It symbolizes food and wind, our themes on this journey. Welcome to Gone Camping. We begin by crossing the more than 6,000-meter-long Öland Bridge. Back on firm ground, it feels like you’ve traveled abroad. In Sweden’s smallest province, the air is fresher and the pace lower. The landscape feels like it belongs in another era. Huge fields of flowers dominate the flat terrain, and you see lots of winged monuments from a lost era. 20 minutes south of the bridge, we find Haga Park Camping och Stugor, where we’ll stay a few days. It’s a wonderful facility where hedges…

Medeltidsveckan och Lummelundagrottan – Gone Camping på Gotland

One destination always seems to top the list of sunniest locations. We’ll take the ferry from Oskarshamn to that sun-drenched island. Come with us to Gotland. Welcome to Gone Camping. Gotland is approximately 90 kilometers from the mainland. The Destination Gotland trip takes between 2 and 3 hours. You can take the express ferry, but when traveling with a large vehicle- -you take the regular ferry. The boat docks in Visby. Kneippbyn Resort is a few miles south- -and will be the base for our stay in Gotland. If you’re traveling with young, restless campers- -there are plenty of activities to fill the summer days. There’s Waterland, which has something…

High Chaparral och Isaberg – Gone Camping hälsar på i Småland

Welcome to an episode that will be rougher and tougher than normal. We’re in Småland, at High Chaparral. Welcome to the late 1800s and Gone Camping. High Chaparral is a lot about curiosity and the urge to explore. And going into “cowboy mode”. The visitors seem really good at that. Each year, this place sells 35,000 cowboy hats and 59,000 cap guns. What my grandfather wanted to reflect with High Chaparral was that everyone is equal at High Chaparral. It’s up to you to create your own experience by using what’s here and making it your own. Everything is genuine. There’s nothing plastic or fake. We don’t have a bunch…

Venedig, Dolomiterna, Gardasjön och Valpocella – Gone Camping med guldkant i norra Italien

For us campers, Punta Sabbioni is a perfect starting place. There are about ten campsites within just a few kilometers. One of them is Miramare, where we are now. Best of all, it’s easy to catch a boat to one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Since we’re going to Venice, it feels right to take a waterbus, or “vaporetto”. The trip from Punta Sabbioni takes about 30 minutes. I suggest getting off at Piazza San Marco and riding the elevator up at Campanile. From the bell tower, you get a wonderful view of Venice and get a feel for how the city’s 170 canals and 450 bridges are connected.…

Hummerpremiär, krabbfiske och havskajak – Gone Camping gästar Västkusten

Hi. I’ve finally gotten our camper in place at Ramsvik Camping on the west coast. We’re here because tomorrow is a big day. It’s the start of lobster season. The start of lobster season is almost a religious event on the west coast. And here at Ramsvik Camping, we have front row seats. The campground and the cute little cabins are located right by the water. If you enjoy water activities and nature, this is perfect for you. And you can also go lobster fishing. I get up early the next day. It’s still night-time for me. I’m helping the Mård brothers, who always set lobster pots at the start…

Lerduveskytte i Landskrona och bouldering i Kjugekull – Gone Camping besöker Skåne

Welcome to Gone Camping and Skåne. Yes. All our destinations and activities may not be to your liking, but today we have a really bang-up show. I think you can hear that. Welcome to Landskrona. Let’s go. We check in at Borstahusen, just north of Landskrona. It’s a campsite full of friendly visitors who help us get our camper in place. The facility is called Mötesplats Borstahusen, and the name reflects the atmosphere here. It’s a modern facility with new service buildings and well-kept spaces. The lush campsite has 200 camping lots and about 60 cabins, and it’s a short walk to the beach and some of the best swimming…

Krk, Istrien och Rovinj – Gone Camping dyker och seglar på Adriatiska havet i Kroatien

I’ve changed my mode of transport. I’m on a boat in northern Croatia and my camper is parked at a campsite. We’ll explore by sea and by land, above and below the surface. You’re welcome to join me. We begin our tour of Croatia on Krk, the second biggest island in the Adriatic Sea. We set up camp at Camping Krk, which for a long time was run as a nudist campsite. Due to a drop in demand, that was changed and it’s now a super modern family facility. During the peak season, 1,500 guests stay in 350 camping lots and about 50 cabins. The site faces to the southwest…
